2012 – Our First Year
…And what a wonderful year its been!!
Siberian Husky Rescue Inc. has had such an amazing year, founded in January we have built an amazing network of friends, members, foster carers, volunteers and supporters, not to mention saved quite a few lives in the process!! I have to say I am so proud of everyone who has come together this year to assist SHR Inc. in so many ways and help us to blossom into such a dedicated and passionate rescue. Every single person has helped us much such a huge difference, mainly to the lives of over 60 huskies, a few Alaskan Malamutes and two beautiful Akitas!
We attended some wonderful events this year… The Oscars law rally and Frankston being the bigger two, and they were both such a great success, once again thanks to our dedicated team and wonderful volunteers!! It has been wonderful to get to know so many wonderful people who support our cause just as passionately as we do. Thank you to all those who have come to our events, assisted or supported, it would of been impossible to do it without you Attending these events not only gives our group exposure to the public and create more awareness but it also gives us the wonderful opportunity to meet so many other dedicated rescue organisations who are doing such fabulous work for our companion animals in Victoria and Australia as a whole.
We have met quite a few rescues and their members this year, but we have to give a special shout our to one group in particular, Shar Pei Rescue Inc, are a wonderful group of volunteers who dedicate so much to what they do, on top of that, their wonderful president Amanda, was more than willing to take time out of her busy schedule – on numerous occasions to mentor, guide, give advice and lend a shoulder when needed. Shar Pei Rescue Inc are such a dedicated and professionally run animal rescue organisation and I have the utmost respect for them, its always great to see such passionate people in rescue, but on top of that, such selfless and kindness is rarely seen these days.
We have had wonderful success with our adoptions this year, our sometimes harshly judged “strict” screening has proven well for all our adopted babies who have all found a special place in each of their new families hearts, we love receiving regular updates on our rescues as these babies will always be a part of the SHR Inc. family as will their parents – please remember we are always here for advice if it is needed. If you would like to read our wonderful adoption stories and updates, they can be found in our “happy tails” section of the website!!
SHR Inc. has taken in a few Alaskan Malamutes and Akitas this year, unfortunately the number of Arctic dogs in pounds throughout Australia has been rediculous, so as the need is there, we will still continue on to rescue other arctics in need when the situation arises. Owning an Alaskan Malamute and Samoyed as well as my beautiful Husky Indy, it is great to have the knowledge to comfortably rehome other arctic dogs comfortably when needed.
As always we extend our hearts and thank you’s out to all of the amazing people who have helped us this year. A HUGE thank you goes out to our wonderful vets – South Eastern Animal Hospital and Brandon Park Veterinary Hospital, who have both been so loving towards every dog that they have seen through their care, both clinics have such dedicated staff who provide the most quality care to our animals and we could not be more thankful for the support they have given to us.
To our Photographers – Kym Houtson Photography, Impulser Photography and Akemi Photography, who all donate their time and skills to taking the most wonderful photos of our rescues – thank you, thank you, thank you…. when the first thing people are seeing is a photo when browsing through thousands of dogs online, a stand out and stunning professional photo makes all the difference for adoptions, we are so grateful for the effort you all put in to making our babies stand out from the rest!
And of course my two amazing, wonderful girls who have made SHR Inc. what it is today, without the both of you, we wouldn’t of saved nearly as many dogs – or had such success in such a short time, Casey and Steph you are both such an amazing asset to the SHR Inc. team, you are so loved and appreciated and very much family, I am so grateful to have such wonderful ladies working along side me, in such a stressful, but wonderful job!!
And a very special thank you to my wonderful partner Kayne, who is such a valued member of our team, helping out in every possible way, photos, transport, every event, maintaining our website, being my Councillor when things are tough and so much more, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, you are irreplaceable and such a big part of SHR Inc. Thank you.
Once again, thank you to every single person who has supported us in so many ways, simply liking our Facebook page creates more awareness for our group and our dogs, everything is a team effort and we could never of got this far without each and every one of you!!
To what will be another stressful but wonderful year of lives saved, thank you all have a wonderful and safe new year!! Xx
